Volunteer Sign-up

Volunteers are essential in the success of any great event. They are vital in providing a safe, organized and fun race. It will take over 50 volunteers to ensure the safety, accuracy, fun and the highest level of organization necessary to produce the Monumental Mile.

Volunteers are needed to help with the packet pick-up, gear check, the start line, the finish line, course marshals, and clean up. Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age.

Now is your chance to take part in welcoming all of the athletes and spectators that will be joining us for this amazing event. All volunteers will receive a Race Crew T-Shirt.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

PACKET PICK-UP & Runner Services

The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle

Be a part of the anticipation and excitement before the Monumental Mile! Athletes pick up their event information and race bib numbers so they are ready for the race. Duties include passing out race packets and t-shirts to participants, providing race information and assisting in directing people as they prepare for the mile.

4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Gear Check

The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle

Assist participants by keeping their belongings safe as they enjoy the event and greet them with a smiling face when they return to collect them. Duties include labeling and organizing participant’s belongings so that they are ready for quick pick-up at the end of the race.

4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Start Line Setup / Coordination

Report to Finish Area (The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle) to sign in and pickup volunteer shirt then report to the Start Area at 12th and Meridian by 5:30 pm

A behind the scenes duty that helps the Monumental Mile start with success. Help prepare the starting line for participants, distribute water to participants pre-race, help participants get properly placed for their selected wave, and help with tear down. Encourage participants and help to ensure they are prepared for their race

5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

FINISH LINE

Finish Line at The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle

Set up the finish line area, be the first to see participants as they come across the finish line, and help with post-race tear down. As participants complete their race, we need your help to guide them through the finish area. Aid in setting out/refilling the bottled water and amenity bag stations.

5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

COURSE MARSHAL

Various points along the course

Direct participants along the route to ensure they go the proper way while encouraging them along the way. Duties include having a proper understanding of the course and ensuring safety. Some walking will be required. Refreshments will be provided.

7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

TEAR DOWN CREW

Report to Finish Area (The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle)

A behind the scenes duty that helps the Monumental Mile finish with success. Provide an extra hand as the Finish Line is dismantled and the Finish Area is returned back to original condition. Can’t be afraid to get your hands dirty or help with heavy lifting.

PUT ME WHERE YOU NEED ME

Finish Line at The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle

Are you a volunteer who wants to help and doesn’t care where you are assigned? Then this is the role for you! Show up at the scheduled time and we will put you where we need help. Duties can include any of the following: Start Line Assistant, Finish Line, Gear Check, Registration, or clean-up/tear down. One requirement that we ask is that you HAVE FUN!
