CAN I PARTICIPATE IN MULTIPLE RACES AT THE EVENT? 

Yes, participants can sign up for one or multiple races by adding on races during registration.

– Register for any Mile (Age Group, Community, and Doggie Dash) and add on a Mile wave or waves: $10 add-on registration fee for each additional Mile wave
– Register for any Mile (Age Group, Community, and Doggie Dash) and add the 5K: $20 add-on registration fee
– Register for the 5K and add on a Mile wave or waves (Age Group, Community, and Doggie Dash): $10 add-on registration fee for each additional Mile wave

We will donate $5 of each Doggie Dash registration to the FRIENDS OF INDY ANIMALS.

You must have a race bib for the corresponding race distance/wave to participate.

DO YOU OFFER A MILITARY OR FIRST RESPONDER DISCOUNT?

Beyond Monumental is honored to offer a discount to active U.S. Military members and their immediate family members, U.S. Military veterans and their immediate family members, and active and retired first responders (law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, and emergency management officials) and their immediate family members. Qualified individuals can receive a 10 percent (10%) discount off the price at the time of registration.

Email a copy of your or your immediate family member’s military or work photo ID or DD214 to INFO@BEYONDMONUMENTAL.ORG to request the discount.

WILL THE RACE BE CERTIFIED?

The Mile course is certified by USATF (certification #IN22015TDK) and the race is sanctioned by USATF.

The 5K course certification is pending review & approval.

USATF sanctions the race and all USATF COMPETITION RULES apply.

IS THE INDIANAPOLIS 5K & MONUMENTAL MILE PART OF INDYTHON?

Yes! INDYTHON Premier is the ultimate INDYTHON challenge! Complete the Indianapolis Monumental Mile, the Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben, and the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon to earn INDYTHON Premier awards.

WHAT DOES MY PARTICIPATION IN THIS EVENT SUPPORT?

Beyond Monumental is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Proceeds from Beyond Monumental events support the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement, a seven-to-nine-week youth running program that culminates with students running a 5K. The bi-weekly program focuses on engaging and educating youth about the benefits of physical fitness and healthy living. You can find more information about our beneficiaries here!

WHAT IF I ENTERED THE WRONG INFORMATION WHEN I REGISTERED OR I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE SOMETHING ON MY REGISTRATION?

Log in to your Beyond Monumental participant account to update your information. Email our team at info@beyondmonumental.org with questions or if you need help.

MAY I CANCEL MY RACE REGISTRATION?

Yes, you may cancel your registration at any time by reaching out to INFO@BEYONDMONUMENTAL.ORG. All fees (registration, ancillary products, etc.) are non-refundable.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE EVENT IS CANCELED?

The Event may be postponed, ended early, or canceled by an Event or government official for circumstances beyond the Event’s reasonable control. Circumstances beyond the Event’s reasonable contract include but are not limited to war, epidemic, civil or political unrest, terrorism, curtailment of transportation, or inclement weather. If the Event cannot take place for reasons outside of the Event’s control, there will be no refunds or transfers.

If the Event is canceled:

 – On or before April 30: We will convert your registration to a virtual event and mail your race packet to the address provided during registration.
 – May 1, or later: Your registration fee will be donated to support the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement.

CAN I BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE RACE?

You will be disqualified if:
– You are not wearing your assigned race bib.
– You are found to be wearing two or more Event-issued timing devices during the race and your results will not be recorded.
– You leave the course.
– You are found to have intentionally shortened the route of the course.

You may be disqualified if:
– You attempt to enter a race/wave to which you are not assigned.
– You are missing or have irregular split times at official timing checkpoints.
– You are found to have received assistance from any person other than approved Event personnel including guide runners, support runners, and pacers.

Please note, your race entry/bib number is unique to your registration and may not be sold to any other individual.

All finish times are reviewed before times are deemed official. Participants will be given the opportunity to appeal unofficial finish times before the finish times are made official.

Participants must begin the Event during the officially recognized start time in order to register an official finish time.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR MY RACE BIB?

Registered participants must wear their assigned race bib at all times during the Event. Your bib should be worn conspicuously on the front (and back when applicable) for the entire Event.

No one is allowed to participate in the Event without their assigned race bib.

WILL I BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE VIRTUALLY?

We are excited to get back to in-person racing and will not have a standalone virtual race this year. 

INTERESTED IN VIRTUAL OPTIONS FOR 2024?

The virtual Marathon in a Month is also back as part of the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon! Register for MARATHON IN A MONTH to complete 26.2 miles – virtually and in increments of your choice – during the month of November.

I’M A SPECTATOR. WHERE CAN I WATCH THE RACES?

The courses start on Pennsylvania Avenue between Michigan and Vermont Streets. You can see the start and the participants on their way down Meridian Street if you position yourself in that area. 

The Finish Line is on Meridian Street just south of Ohio Street.

RULES & POLICIES

As a USA Track & Field (USATF) sanctioned event, the Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben, 10K, 5K, and Kids One Mile Run is subject to the USATF Competition Rules. The Policies and Procedures incorporate the USATF Rules and additional provisions adopted by Beyond Monumental to ensure a safe, fair race for all participants. WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT?

Participants must be 5 years of age or older on race day. Children aged 5 and older must be registered and have a race bib to participate.

All ages are encouraged to participate in the Community Mile. Children under 5 years old do not need a race bib and will not receive a finish time; a registered participant must accompany each child under 5 years old.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY PACKET?

Yes. They must present your confirmation email or a copy of your government-issued photo ID. Digital or printed copies of the email and government-issued photo ID are acceptable for Packet Pickup.

WHAT IF I DON’T FEEL WELL ON EVENT DAY?

You should not attend the Event if you are sick. This includes participants with a suspected or diagnosed/confirmed case of COVID-19 and participants exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or other illnesses.

If you cannot attend due to COVID-19 sickness, please email INFO@BEYONDMONUMENTAL.ORG to discuss options.

WHAT ITEMS ARE REQUIRED AND WHAT ITEMS ARE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE?

You must wear your race bib at all times. Your bib should be worn conspicuously on the front (and back when applicable) for the entire Event.

Strollers, baby joggers, and wagons are allowed in the Community Mile.

– Children age 5 and older must be registered and have a race bib to participate.
– Children under 5 years old do not need a race bib and will not receive a finish time; a registered participant must accompany each child under 5 years old.

Doggie Dash participants must run/walk with a dog and the dog must also run/walk. Dogs must be on a leash at all times; the leash should be no longer than six feet (6’) long. Please use good judgment and participate with a dog that is comfortable in large crowds and in urban areas. Please be courteous and clean up after your dog.

WHAT ITEMS ARE NOT ALLOWED AND/OR NOT RECOMMENDED ON THE COURSE?

You are not allowed to participate in the 5K, Age Group Miles (youth, open, masters, and Elite), or Doggie Dash with animals, bicycles, baby joggers, strollers, roller skates, inline skates, or any other not approved wheeled devices.

Dogs are allowed in the Doggie Dash only. No other animals are allowed on the course.

You may use your cell phone so long as you don’t pose a safety hazard on the course. Selfie sticks and camera mounts/rigs are prohibited. Other items such as large bags, coolers, props, non-running items, and weapons are not allowed on the course. Please use your best judgment regarding the safety of all participants for items not listed.

WHAT HAPPENS IF EXTREME WEATHER HAPPENS DURING THE EVENT?

If extreme weather or an emergency situation becomes an issue during the Event, the Command Group will meet and determine the status/future of the Event. Depending on the situation, the Event may be delayed, ended early, or canceled. Information will be relayed to the race committee. Participants will be notified by course monitors and race officials. Participants will be required to use their best judgment, based on the situation, as to the next best course of action.

WHAT IF I NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION DURING THE RACE?

Medical personnel will be stationed on the course to provide medical assistance.

Event-authorized medical personnel may examine any participant who appears in distress. If in the sole opinion of authorized medical personnel, it is in the best interest of the participant’s health and welfare, medical personnel may remove a participant from the Event. Participants must retire at once from the race if ordered to do so by a member of the Event’s official staff, official medical staff, or any governmental authority, including fire and police officials.

Participants are responsible and assume liability for any and all medical expenses incurred as a result of training for and/or participation in the Event, including but not limited to ambulance transport, hospital stays, physician and pharmaceutical goods and services.

IMPORTANT: It is recommended that you write any medical conditions, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts on the backside of your race bib. You must wear your race bib at all times during the event.

CAN I LEAVE THE COURSE AND COME BACK?

You will be disqualified if you leave the course.

You, as a registered participant, are responsible for recognizing and understanding Event signage and symbols relating to course maps and directions.

WHO WILL RECEIVE AWARDS?

5K Age Group Awards – First place male, female, and non-binary finishers by chip time. 11 & under, 12-15, 16-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over

Open Mile Age Group Awards – First place male, female, and non-binary finishers by chip time. 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39

Masters Mile Age Group Awards – First place male, female, and non-binary finishers by chip time. 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over

Youth & High School (19 & Under) Age Group Awards – First place male, female, and non-binary finishers by chip time. 5-9, 10-14, 15-17, 18-19

Doggie Dash – First place male, female, and non-binary finishers by chip time.

Elite Athletes are not eligible for Age Group Awards.

WHEN AND WHERE WILL AGE GROUP AWARDS BE DISTRIBUTED?

Overall and age group awards will be presented onsite at the Indianapolis 5K & Monumental Mile.

HOW CAN I CHECK MY RESULTS?

There are several different ways to check your results after you finish.

– Visit the Results & Awards Tent in the Post Race Celebration to receive a printout of your finish time.
– View live results at WWW.monumentalmile.COM.

If you have questions about your results, please visit the Results & Awards Tent during the race or e-mail INFO@BEYONDMONUMENTAL.ORG after the race.

AMENDMENTS/CHANGES TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND EVENT RULES & POLICIES

– Event officials reserve the right to modify, supplement, or waive all or part of the Event rules.
– Participants shall be bound by any modification or supplement of the Event rules published prior to the Event.
– Failure to follow Event rules may result in immediate disqualification, loss of prizes, and removal from official results.

Participants must follow instructions as given by Event officials including race staff, volunteers, medical personnel, fire and police officials, security officers, and city officials throughout the duration of the Event. Event attendees must adhere to Event, city, state, and other public health guidelines and orders.
